The program was implemented in over 100 schools in Simcoe County and has diverted over 5,000 MT of recyclables and organics from landfill since 2010. The program is unique in that it mirrors the residential waste program in hopes to increase waste reduction and diversion both in the schools and at home. Children play a significant role in influencing adult behaviour so by educating students in the importance of waste reduction in a school setting, this will also impact their parent's behaviours at home.

Congratulations Tos and a special thank you to Mr. Van Huis, Ms. Gilbert and our Green Team for helping divert waste produced at school!
