Attendance Area review- staff recommendationshttp://tos.scdsb.on.ca/about-us/news/school-news/18Attendance Area review- staff recommendations<p>​<span style="color:#595959;font-family:arial, sans-serif;background-color:#ffffff;">Following are the contents of a letter being distributed to all families at Banting Memorial High School, Bear Creek Secondary School, Nottawasaga Pines Secondary School, Tosorontio Central PS and Baxter Central PS regarding the attendance area review. ​</span>​</p><p>The Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) monitors enrolment trends and facility conditions in an effort to ensure that school attendance areas are structured to support student achievement. When necessary, SCDSB staff complete attendance area reviews (AAR) to balance enrolment and support student success and well-being.</p><p>The SCDSB Board of Trustees has approved a review of the attendance areas of Banting Memorial High School, Bear Creek Secondary School and Nottawasaga Pines Secondary School. The intent is to balance enrolment and alleviate pressures at Banting Memorial High School and Bear Creek Secondary School by realigning feeder school attendance boundaries. </p><p>SCDSB staff are currently considering the following:</p><ul><li>Aligning the Tosorontio Central PS and Baxter Central PS boundaries entirely with Nottawasaga Pines Secondary School's attendance area. <br><br>The review will take place during the 2017-18 school year and include a public meeting to address parent questions and get feedback on the proposed changes. <br><br>Further information is included in the SCDSB's 2016-17 Capital Plan. Rain Date is Oct. 11th! Parents and community members are welcome to join this important tradition from 2:20pm-3:20pm. Please keep your generous donations coming so that the Terry Fox Foundation can continue to fund cancer research. Our schoolyard will also be alive with sidewalk chalk "messages of hope" as part of the  POGO campaign to recognize survivors and patients with pediatric cancer. Go Timberwolves! </p>

‘Bus Tag’ program helps students get to and from school safelyhttp://tos.scdsb.on.ca/about-us/news/board-news/18‘Bus Tag’ program helps students get to and from school safely<p>​</p><p>The Simcoe County Student Transportation Consortium (SCSTC) launched the Bus Tag<strong> </strong>program this September.<strong> </strong>The Bus Tag program supports safety for JK/SK and other school-identified students by<strong> </strong>providing a process to match students to their assigned afternoon school bus and to also<strong> </strong>identify they must be met by a parent or guardian at their afternoon bus stop.</p><p>The program provides:</p><ul style="list-style-type:disc;"><li>a colour coded bus tag with the assigned p.m. route number to be attached to the student's backpack</li><li>a colour-coded route card with route number in the windows of the school bus that the Bus Tag is matched to</li></ul><p>The SCSTC and Bus Operators have policies and procedures that are used on all school vehicles to ensure students in JK/SK and other school identified students are met at their afternoon bus stop.  It's the parent/guardian's responsibility to meet Junior Kindergarten, Senior Kindergarten and other identified students at the bus stop .The Bus Tag program has been established to assist both the schools and school bus drivers to load these students on the correct afternoon bus and identify they are to be met at their bus stop by a parent/guardian. Pay for field trips, lunch days, etc. with SchoolCash Onlinehttp://tos.scdsb.on.ca/about-us/news/board-news/19Pay for field trips, lunch days, etc. with SchoolCash Online<p>​</p><p>The SchoolCash Online program is now available at all schools, offering parents the option to pay online for field trips, lunch days and other items. The program is intended to reduce paper, eliminate the need for students to travel with money, and for money to be counted and stored at schools.<strong>  </strong>Payment by credit card has now also been added. </p><p>Parents who sign up will receive a notification when a new item becomes available for purchase. Items are personalized to each student.  Parents will use a secure online account to process payments, and can either make a one-time payment for each item as it occurs, or load money to carry a balance in the online account to make payments in the future. </p><p>To create an online account, go to <a href="https://simcoecounty.schoolcashonline.com/" target="_blank"><span lang="EN-CA" style="text-decoration:underline;">https://simcoecounty.schoolcashonline.com</span></a>.
